This is The BEST Dairy-Free Ranch Dressing you can make! It's the ultimate game-changer for salads, veggie platters, chicken wings, tenders, and more. It's creamy, tangy, and equally as delicious as some of my favorite store-bought ranch dressings.
Most homemade ranch dressings are just too tart for me. I've played around with this recipe over the years and, finally, I think I've cracked the code on homemade ranch dressing.

📝Ingredient Notes
- Mayonnaise: Not miracle whip! My favorite mayonnaise is Duke's Mayonnaise. If you haven't tried it, you really should. Before switching to Dukes, I always bought Hellman's. Both are good, but Dukes is definitely my favorite!
- Unsweetened plain coconut yogurt: I use this as a sour cream replacement. It's light and tangy, and I don't notice any coconut flavors with it.
- Lemon juice: Fresh lemon juice is best. It adds a bright, tangy flavor that's essential for ranch dressing.
- Pickled jalapeno juice: I add a small amount of juice from the jar of pickled jalapeños.
- Sugar: This doesn't make the ranch sweet, don't worry. It helps balance out the tart acids in the ranch so that the rest of the flavors can come out. If you're still skeptical about the addition of sugar in this recipe, look at the ingredient label on your favorite bottles of ranch dressing. Sugar is used as a preservative in bottled dressings, but it also plays an important role in the flavor profile as I mentioned above.
🌾Substitutions
- Mayonnaise: If you need an egg-free version, feel free to use a vegan mayonnaise of your choice.
- Unsweetened plain coconut yogurt: You can use a dairy-free sour cream of your choice in place of the coconut yogurt. Just be sure it's one you like the taste of. A bad-tasting sour cream alternative can ruin the recipe!
- Lemon juice: Use distilled white vinegar in place of fresh lemon juice.
- Pickled jalapeno juice: If you can't use the jalapeno juice, just leave it out!
- Water: I use water to thin down the dressing, but you can use a milk alternative like my homemade almond milk or cashew milk!

✅ Tips
- Use quality ingredients: Not all brands taste the same, and they can affect how your ranch comes out. I always say that you should use brands that you know you like the taste of. For this recipe, the two most important products are the mayonnaise and the sour cream alternative. I prefer the taste of Dukes Mayonnaise and Unsweetened Plain Coconut Yogurt by So Delicious.
- Allow the ranch to marinate in the refrigerator: Allowing the ranch to marinate makes a HUGE difference. Let it marinate overnight for the best results!
