    Green Juice in a Blender

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Green juice in a blender is a quick way to get a ton of fruits and vegetables into your body in just one drink. And it's much healthier than any so called "healthy" green juice that you can get at a store.

Two mason jars filled with green juice.

I used to drool over the high end juicers, until I discovered the problem with them. They extract all the fibers from the fruits and vegetables. So you aren't getting the plants full health benefits and we definitely need that fiber! Therefore, experts have said that it's best to consume whole fruits and veggies.

I discovered this recipe from lifeisnoyoke.com and therefore realized that there is a much better way to go about juicing.

    Ingredients

    • Water
    • Apple- keep the skin on because the skins are very nutritious and contain flavonoids!
    • Orange- or use a few clementines like I do!
    • Banana- fresh. Not frozen. Frozen bananas will make it creamy like a smoothie!
    • Celery
    • Kale- if you're using a vitamix or a powerful blender like a vitamix. Keep the stems on! They are packed with nutrients and the vitamix blender can handle them no problem. It'll look as if we never left those stems on
    • Fresh ginger- the benefits of ginger are amazing! We are just using a little bit though so it won't be overpowering at all.
    • Fresh jalapeño- sounds weird. But it really makes this juice perfect, in my opinion. And fresh jalapeños have great benefits too. You can read about them here. It only takes a tiny nub, but If you're not into adding jalapeño to your juice then feel free to leave it out.
    • Lemon wedge- again, if you're using a vitamix, keep the rind on! It's only a little wedge, so the rind won't leave bitterness. We leave this on because its packed with nutrients and other properties that are beneficial to our health. Don't believe me? Read about it here.

    The Vitamix blender I use

The best blender to use is a high speed one like a Vitamix blender. There isn't anything this blender can't handle. Kale stems? No problem. Lemon rind? Like it was never there. BUT you don't need one. Use what blender you have today and let's make some green juice!

Jars I use to prep for the week

How to make green juice in a blender

Start by washing all your fruit and vegetables.

Then add everything in this order:

About 12 ounces of water into your blender.

Next, we want to add our fruits. Quarter your apple and discard the stem and seeds. Then add in the banana and orange.

Now we add our vegetables. Put a stick or two of celery in along with roughly 3 cups of the kale on top. Again, if you are using a vitamix, keep the stems on! If not, remove them.

Using a spoon, scrape the skin off the ginger and throw in a small nub of ginger, about as big as your thumb nail.

Add in a tiny nub of jalapeño. You want it to be the size of the tip of your thumb nail. Not much at all.

Throw in the lemon wedge. Again, if you're using a vitamix then keep the rind on! If not, peel the lemon wedge and discard the rind.

Add in 2 tablespoons of flax or chia seeds.

Lastly, top it off with a cup of ice!

Top view of the ingredients in the blender.

This will take about a minute in a vitamix blender. If you need to stop and push a piece of kale down, do so. Every now and then, touch the side of the blender. You don't want it to start getting warm or your juice will be warm!

I sometimes drink the entire batch to myself, but you can half it and store it in the refrigerator for a couple of days to enjoy longer!

    Enjoy!

    Ingredients

    • 12 oz water
    • 1 apple skin on
    • 1 orange
    • 1 ripe banana fresh not frozen
    • 1-2 sticks of celery
    • 3 cups kale
    • 1 small nub fresh ginger about the size of your thumb nail
    • 1 tiny nub fresh jalapeno optional* (the size of the tip of your thumb nail, seeds removed)
    • 1 lemon wedge
    • 2 tablespoons flax/chia seeds
    • 1 cup ice

    Instructions

    • Start by washing all of your produce, then add all of the ingredients in this order:
    • Add the water into your blender.

    • Using a spoon, scrape the skin off the ginger and add it to the blender.
    • Add in a very tiny nub of jalapeño (with the seeds removed), if desired.
    • Throw in the lemon wedge. And yet again, if you're using a vitamix then keep the rind on! If not, peel the lemon wedge and discard the rind.
    • Add in the flax or chia seeds and then top with ice.
    • This takes about 1 minute in a vitamix blender on high speed. Every once in a while, place your hand on the side of the blender checking to make sure it doesn't get warm. We want our juice to stay cold. The ice helps with this!
    • Pour and enjoy! I sometimes drink the entire batch at once, but you can half it and refrigerate it for a couple of days to enjoy longer.
